Mayoral Visit to Cariad Gin 2026
Mayor Matt Sprake has been visiting local businesses and looking at how Holywell can work in partnership with them. He recently went on a tour of the award winning Cariad Gin distillery.Matt had the follow to say after his visit:“It was a pleasure to be invited to the local Cariad Gin distillery, nestled in the Halkyn Mountain valleys, and hear more about how this family-run business has grown from an idea into an award-winning Welsh brand, proudly producing quality gin right here in our community.Fiona and Simon kindly catered my recent Charity Ball and were an enormous success on the evening. Not just because of the fantastic gin, which went down exceptionally well, but because of their warmth, enthusiasm and wonderful personalities which brought so much to the event.
Businesses like Cariad Gin are exactly why we should champion local, ambitious people building something special, creating opportunities, showcasing North Wales at its very best, and doing so with genuine heart and community spirit.
A visit to Cariad Gin was a real reminder of the incredible ambition, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit we have in our humble part of the world.
Thank you again to Fiona and Simon for their hospitality and support, and I would strongly encourage people to support this brilliant local success story.”
