Holywell Platinum Jubilee Celebrations in Pictures
On Thursday, June 2nd 2022, Holywell Town Council held its Platinum Jubilee Celebrations in the town centre. There was free entertainment including Punch & Judy by Professor Llusern, morris dancing by Holywell Debonaire’s, a circus entertainment act from A Little Magic Children’s Entertainers and music group Royalty headlined the day.
Holywell Town Band very kindly performed to the residents of the local care homes and residents of Panton Place, who were all also treated to afternoon tea supplied by Rosie’z Cafe from Holywell. Members of the community passing through were also invited for tea and cake.
The first 150 children in town were also treated to a free picnic bag and were also able to take part in free face painting. Most of the contents of the picnic bags were supplied by Holywell Tesco completely free of charge!
Our volunteers also ran a craft table and a sports day area with children being presented with special jubilee medals. At 2pm, our Holywell town crier informed the crowds of the forthcoming lighting of the beacons that evening.
DJ Phil kept the crowds in the centre of town entertained whilst they shopped at the extensive Artisan market run by Ruthin Artisan Markets where the community could treat themselves to locally produced ciders and gins or bubble tea and doughnuts whilst the children had fun on the fair rides.
Local businesses Bake a Wish and Kassidy’s entered into the jubilee spirit and both baked the “jubilee tart”.
Overall it was an extremely successful day, the weather was on our side and the community came out in droves to support the event. We were even featured on the ITV and BBC news!
We would like to thank Streetscene for providing helpers on the day, Holywell Garden Centre for assisting with set up, our volunteers (residents and councillors) without whom we couldn’t have managed, the shops for their support and most of all the community for turning up and providing the wonderful atmosphere!
